Cavotec wins breakthrough automated vacuum mooring order in Far East

In a major breakthrough for automated mooring, our MoorMaster™ technology has been selected for installation at a roll-on/roll-off berth in a key market in the Far East. This is the first installation of this unique mooring system in Asia and highlights widespread interest in the technology and its growing use around the world.

“This order demonstrates the high quality of our MoorMaster system and is a clear indication of how vacuum mooring is becoming the new standard for mooring worldwide,” says Patrick Mares, President of Cavotec’s Ports & Maritime Division.

The MoorMaster system will moor a 180m-long roll-on/roll-off vessel at a port in the Far East. It will create a safer and less stressful work environment for employees on board the vessel and ashore. It will also contribute to greater berth availability due to reduced vessel motion. The system will be installed in 2022.

MoorMaster eliminates the need for conventional mooring lines by replacing them with automated vacuum pads that moor and release vessels in seconds. Its patent-protected Active Control™ technology minimises vessel motion, thereby drastically improving port productivity.

First introduced 20 years ago, MoorMaster is the only proven and widely used vacuum mooring technology. It is used at is used at bulk, container handling, lock, roll-on/roll-off, and ship-to-ship applications worldwide.

Cavotec to accelerate focus on cleantech - will invest 20 million euro to solidify leading position in expected multibillion euro market

Cavotec wins major MoorMaster service contract in Western Australia

A decade after installing MoorMaster™ automated vacuum mooring at an iron ore berth in Western Australia, Pilbara Ports Authority has now selected Cavotec to secure availability and extend lifetime of its mooring system.

MoorMaster moors vessels in seconds, thereby enabling vessels to use less thrust to remain in position during loading and off-loading.

More orders in Norway for Cavotec’s next generation vacuum mooring system

Cavotec has been awarded an order for its next generation vacuum mooring technology, MoorMaster™ NxG, from leading Norwegian ferry operator Fjord 1. The systems will be used with a new-build, zero-emission vessel to reduce energy consumption in port. The customer has also signed a long-term service agreement for the operator’s existing MoorMaster vacuum mooring systems and e-vessel charging units.

The new office is a key part of Cavotec’s strategy to further leverage its strong position in the fast-growing markets for electrification and automation of ports in Asia and around the world.

Cavotec opens office in Malaysia to meet growth in Asian market

Cavotec is to open a new office in Malaysia to create a stronger presence in the Asian market. Opening the new office is a key part of Cavotec’s strategy to further leverage its strong position in the fast-growing markets for electrification and automation of ports in Asia and around the world.

A new port efficiency tool developed by DNV GL Maritime Advisory indicates that the Port of Helsinki’s use of a MoorMaster™ automated mooring system reduces vessel fuel consumption by up to 2,800 tonnes every year.

Cavotec secures order with Port of Stockholm for first automated mooring system in Sweden, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 5,000 tonnes per year
