Global engineering group Cavotec has won orders for its innovative technologies for ports in Australia, Indonesia, Oman, Portugal and Turkey, and for two major shipping lines, with a combined value of more than EUR 11.5 million.

The world’s first battery-powered ferry was delivered recently, heralding a new era in environmentally responsible shipping. The vessel, which will serve a high-frequency route in Norway, will use our very first combined automated mooring and shore power system.

Cavotec has won three orders worth a total of more than EUR 28 million for MoorMaster™ automated mooring systems at applications in Australia, Canada and Denmark, one of which — for the St. Lawrence Seaway in Canada — is the largest to date for MoorMaster™, and one of the biggest projects in the history of the Group.

We showcased our AMP technologies at last week’s PortTechEXPO in Los Angeles, an event we also sponsored. It was organised by non-profit business incubator Port Tech LA. Swedish Environment Minister Lena Ek recently opened an innovative Cavotec Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) shore-to-ship electrical application at the Port of Ystad in southern Sweden - the largest high voltage shore connection in the world.

The Port of Long Beach and the Port of Oakland have selected Cavotec's innovative Alternative Maritime Power systems for installation at multiple berths ensuring safe, easy and quick connection to grid-generated electrical power. This enables ships to switch of their engines while docked thus making a substantial improvement to air quality in and around these ports.
